Hanging piece leads to a simple win ...

My first game of the 2013-2014 season saw me up against someone with very little match experience, so not too much to write about here. I am recording the game because it was my first gift of the season in the Berkshire league and will be instructive for juniors!

As usual, any comments welcome ...

Nice game and well done for winning your first game of the year.

I was really interested by the opening - his 5. Bc4 move looks odd but once you played 5...Nxe4 I actually thought there might be a really interesting battle coming up after 6. Qh5 or even 6. Bxf7+ instead of 6. f3

A couple of variations I was thinking of (but no doubt a computer will bust them :) ......

5. Bc4 Nxe4
6. Qh5 e6 (g6 would fail to Qd5)
7. Bb5+ Bd7
8. Nxe6


Or

5. Bc4 Nxe4
6. Bxf7+ Kxf7
7. Qh5+ Kg8
8. Qd5+ e6
9. Qxe4+

Both look very interesting, but also make me want to play 5....e6 instead of Nxe4. :) Let me know what you think.
